April 18~20, 2018
Howard International House, Taipei, Taiwan
The primary objective of the International Conference on GPS Radio Occultation (ICGPSRO) is to continue to promote and exchange the operational and scientific application of the RO/R data and the inauguration of the FORMOSAT-7 / COSMIC-2 Equatorial Constellation Mission. Second and another important objective is to discuss the global attention on RO Data Gap and to promote the global collaboration of the RO/R Missions. The criticality of the RO/R Missions has been addressed in formal reports and/or assembly meetings of WMO, CGMS, and major international weather forecast centers. And the third objective is using the ICGPSRO opportunity to attract international Profound Speakers and in conjunction to provide an international forum for FORMOSAT-7 / COSMIC-2 advanced scientific applications.
The 1st ICGPSRO was held in April 13~15, 2011 in conjunction with the 5th Launch Anniversary of FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC at Taipei Howard International House in preparation of transforming the Data User Workshop into a standing forum for International RO conference to continue to enhance and promote the global GPS RO applications and future missions. There are 162 papers/posters and 180 participants from 20 countries in the 1st ICGPSRO. The 2nd ICGPSRO was held in May 14~16, 2013 in conjunction with the 2013 TGA at Aspire Park, Taoyuan, Taiwan. And there are 71 papers/posters and 138 participants from 13 countries in the 2nd ICGPSRO. And the 3rd ICGPSRO was held in March 09~11, 2016 in conjunction with the 10th Launch Anniversary of FORMOSAT-3 / COSMIC at Taipei Howard International House. The 3th ICGPSRO Statistics show there are127 papers/posters and 174 participants from 20 countries.
In viewing the potential greater societal impacts and continuing the supply of the critical RO data, NSPO and NOAA along with many other key U.S. agencies have jointly implemented a collaboration agreement in 2011 for a greater RO constellation, FOMOSAT-7 / COSMIC-2, a high-reliability next generation follow-on system, to replace the degrading performance of the FORMOSAT-3 / COSMIC satellite constellation system. NSPO and NOAA are pleased to announce that the first set of six (6) FORMOSAT-7 / COSMIC-2 satellites will be ready for the launch in 2018 Q2, the readiness status will be updated during the 4 th ICGPSRO.
The worldwide RO/R interested researchers, operators, and system providers are encouraged warmly welcome to join the 4th ICGPSRO in Taipei, Taiwan.
